THE EQUIPMENT YOU NEED FOR RFP

1. Your total package of equipment for RFP (i.e. the contents of your gun box and ammo box) should go something like this:

· Gun Case>

· RFP pistol AND magazine/s

· Ammunition,

· Hearing protection>

· Eyewear> (shooting glasses)

· Basic cleaning gear> and basic tools>

2. Reliability> is essential and has its own webpage here>

3. A note of caution:

It is all too easy to think of additional items that would be nice to add to your gunbox – the short answer is DON’T!

SHOOTING GLASSES

Specialist shooting glasses have a purpose;

· They are adjustable

· They use circular lenses (usually 37mm diameter for pistol shooting (the 23mm diameter lens and lens holders are for the rifle disciplines).

The US-style shooting glasses are more suited to outdoor ‘action’-style shooting, NOT ISSF RFP!!!!!

GUN CASE

Part 1

Take a look at the gun cases that the majority of the shooters are using – while they may vary in brand and colour, there is a size of trolly case that is almost universal, (and there are trolley cases that are too small, and others too big) – the ‘ideal’ is an internal volume of about 0.96ft³ (0.03m³) which will allow for three pistols, cased shooting glasses, ear protectors, pistol cleaning gear, a basic toolkit:

· Internal volume 0.9 to 1.0ft³ (about 0.03m³),

· Trolley handle,

· Polyurethane wheels,

· Lockable,

· Air vent – any reasonable quality case will seal and after being in the hold of an aircraft have negative pressure inside; the vent allows you to equalise the pressure to get the case open.

Part 2

At least once a year, clean EVERYTHING out of your guncase and give it a thorough cleaning. It can be amazing what you find in this annual cleanout! Odd screws (where did that come from???). competitors’ badges from competitions past, fluff and other junk, empty cartridge casings.
